COUNSELING
I bring 27 years of private practice experience, working primarily with women and adolescent girls, with focused training and certifications in the areas of:
Anxiety
Eating Disorders
Trauma
Depression
Nervous system regulation
Holistic healing
I have been trained in and draw from a number of different treatment modalities and schools of thought, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Attachment Theory. I am also a certified Lifespan Integration Therapist (LI), a Certified Trauma Specialist (CTTS), and a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider (CMHIMP). The decision of which approach or tools to use is based on the client’s needs, the circumstances, and the proven effectiveness of the technique for specific treatment goals.
Sessions are most often 45 minutes, but 90 minute sessions can be scheduled for Lifespan Integration work or for clients that have traveled a distance.
Individual Sessions
I work primarily with individuals, but include family and significant others as is helpful toward the treatment goals of the client. Although my focus is with adolescents and older, I sometimes work with clients as young as nine in the treatment of anxiety and/or eating disorders as this age often marks a developmental shift that can trigger anxiety and issues with food and body.
Remote Therapy
Remote therapy is available via phone or a secure telehealth platform.
SPEAKING
I have enjoyed speaking and presenting in a number of different venues over the past 30 years. These include:
Women’s retreats
Conferences
Schools — for faculty and staff, parents, and students
Leadership and personal growth trainings
College and graduate school classes
Topics range from, but are not limited to, many areas of mental health, marriage and parenting, healthy relationship with food and body, and areas of Christian life and spirituality.
My husband, Brian, and I have also presented on a number of topics together and enjoy doing what we can to strengthen marriages, families, and the local church.
NEW CLIENTS
WHAT TO EXPECT
After receiving your inquiry, I will email you a link to my client portal where you will find intake and disclosure paperwork to fill out prior to your first session. We will also discuss your schedule and my availability to find a time that works for both of us. If there is a waiting list, you will be given the option of being worked in to the schedule when there are last minute cancellations until something consistent opens up.
My office is located at 56 N. College Ave. #1 on the corner of College Ave. and A St. with shared office space with Total Motion Physical Therapy. There is street parking as well as a small lot on the other side of the building with the door leading directly to the waiting room. Go ahead and take a seat in the waiting room and I will be out to meet you at your scheduled appointment time.
If you are bringing an adolescent, I will have you, the parent, join us for the first session as we go through the initial intake information. We will then discuss further parental participation depending on the needs of your child and of the family.
I welcome any questions or concerns, so please don’t hesitate to ask or mention whatever is on your mind. I will be straightforward, honest, and transparent and I invite that from you as well.I want each of my clients to feel comfortable and confident in their decision to pursue counseling, and I count it a great privilege to be invited into this process.
Counseling fees, insurance, and payment options
A complimentary 15 minute phone consultation is offered to all potential clients prior to scheduling the initial session as I want you to be confident in your decision. A session fee is $140.00 for a 45 minute session with payment due at time of service. For more information on fees for counseling services, feel free to call, email, or use the contact form and I will get back to you shortly.
While insurance is not accepted for counseling, statements are given monthly for clients to submit to their insurance providers. It is suggested that clients contact their insurance providers regarding reimbursement since the percentages reimbursed often varies depending on the insurance provider and plan.
